When we celebrate Queensland Day, our community gets to share a sense of pride in being a Queensdlander and celebrate all that our State has accomplished throughout the years. Since the very first public meeting in 1851 to discuss the seperation from New South Wales until now, Queensland has been a proud and diverse state. This Queensland Day we acknowledge those that have helped us through one of the most challeging of times – our health workers, teachers, emergency services providers, care army, retail and transport operators, neighbours, family and friends. Our Gidgee Healing front line Workers have been at the helm guiding us through COVID – 19. Since late March all of our Gidgee Healing Primary Health Care Clinics and the Normanton Recovery Centre have remained open for busniess, doing what is necessary to deliver health outcomes within COVID – 19 Restrictions for all our community people.

This meant that our services were able to be delivered utilising tools such as Telehealth and Videohealth appointments, operating pop up testing stations, extending our operating hours as well as establishing resources.  Our front line staff have also had the support of teams working quietly behind the scenes from home. This in particular was a lonely task but it was done by supporting each other and with the help and support of family and friends. On this Queensland day we ackowledge all our Gidgee Healing staff, and ask everyone to thank your fellow Queenslanders. We are proud of you all.
